Many people are confused by diagnostics.

It basically means diagnosing the cause of a light coming up on your dash. The causes range from inexpnsive, quick, and relatively unimportant, to the first sign of needing a new engine. So worth getting checked out!

Each year, cars seem to get more and more complicated. Cars today might have as many as 50 microprocessors on them. ­­Faults are communicated to a central module, the communications bus (Combus), which stores the faults and can in turn communicate them to an off-board diagnostic tool.

These tools vary widely in what they can do.

At PR Motors we have invested heavily in diagnostic equipment, which reads these stored fault codes. We have exactly the same capabilities as main agents on the following makes of car:

VW, Skoda, Audi, Seat, Citroen, Peugeot, Renault and BMW.

For other makes we can do most things (and will tell you when we can’t). We charge £40+VAT to carry out the diagnostic test and discuss the results with you. You can wait while this is done (20mins or so).

As I said at the top of this blog, this can be a very confusing area of mechanics. Our staff are fully trained in the use of our equipment, and, as with all things we do, we are happy to discuss (at whatever length you want), the ins and outs of your vehicle issues.
