Heavy rainfall this week has caused chaos in the US, but also nearer to home. Driving through deep water is not advisable – irrevocable damage can be done if even a small amount of water gets into the engine.

We did actually manage to get this car back on the road, but that is an exceptional outcome. Even driving through deep puddles can cause an engine write off – it takes only a thimble full of water sucked into  the air filter.

So our advice is DRIVE SLOWLY THROUGH STANDING WATER. AVOID IT IF POSSIBLE.
