Football results & news

It’s always good to receive updates from the teams we sponsor. Mark Pinfold from Compton FC wrote with lots of news, of which an extract here:

‘On Saturday 16th we finally managed to play the 4th round cup tie against Kintbury Reserves, following 2 postponements. The team gave it their all after falling 2 goals behind early on in the match, taking the tie to extra time and penalties. Unfortunately we were knocked out losing 5-3 on penalties.

Yesterday saw the Team travel to Goring for what is considered our local derby, I am pleased to report that we won 5-1 in front of a large contingent of travelling fans. This now leaves us 7th in the table with games in hand on many of the teams above us.

Next week we are at home to Mortimer 14:00 Kick off, which will hopefully see another 3 points.’

I also know the Goring Robins held their inaugural match of 2015 yesterday – unfortunately a 5-2 defeat, but at least they got a run out.

Here’s what the Calcot Royals U13s say on their FB page:

‘Calcot Royals 3-2 Ashridge Park. The man of the match vote was close this weekend but winning by 2 votes was Charlie Holloway. Well done.’

No news yet from the Theale Tigers U15s….as soon as I hear I’ll pass it on.
